November 16, 2001![]() The Fine (and Fun) Art of Collecting! Ruth Sidd, PhD If you’re caught up with the contemporary, try Alianza Contemporary Crafts (154 Newbury Street). Those who delight in diners, and many do, can view the work of Jerry Berta, on display from November 14 to January 3. In addition to a large collection of hand-wrought jewelry and fantasy teapots that really work, Alianza’s Clockworks exhibition has everything from the surrealistic to the sublime. They even have a Rube Goldberg type clock that stands about five feet tall, but doesn’t tell time. It’s designed by New York based Eduardo Milieris (Meliès) founder of Watchcraft. Although he is not tied to a particular style, Meliès cites long time influences as Calder, Pollock, Miro, and Kandinsky
